Across the Pond
New Place, New Goals, new year
In this issue, the Reeves were busy preparing for the Christmas rush, Adrienne’s family was able to visit for Christmas, and London is in desperate need of pastors and ministry workers.
Our Ministry
Christmas has been a very busy time for us and our church. Every year Crossroads Baptist organizes a Christmas Carol Service for the community, in partnership with the local Boy Scouts troop. This is a huge opportunity to share the Gospel.
In preparation for this year, we started a new media ministry and created a video to show during the carol service before the Gospel message which you can see at www.youtube.com/reachinglondon.
Also, we prepared Christmas gift bags for those in the surrounding neighborhoods to show our love and invite them to the service. Several who received the bags were able to come to the service, including our next door neighbors, Ravi and Raji with their two sons. Praise God!
The carol service was a tremendous success with approximately 100 in attendance, many hearing the Gospel for the first time. We had a wonderful time singing carols, eating mince pies, and most importantly, sharing Christ with our friends and neighbors.
Our Family
We were grateful to have Adrienne’s parents and grandparents come for Christmas, especially during Dan’s (Adrienne’s father) chemotherapy. It was a blessing to have them here, and the kids enjoyed them so much. They were able to arrive on Lucy’s 4th birthday as a special surprise.
Another surprise was that our washing machine broke down on Christmas Day. We had to replace it immediately at a cost of £239 ($375). If you or your church could help with the cost, please let us know.
Our Field
Since England is a post-Christian society, there are many churches in London, including 7 in our immediate area, without pastors. We have been assisting these churches, praying with their leaders, and preaching at their services. We are trying to help them get back on their feet and focused on evangelism.
Please pray for God’s continued grace and wisdom as we seek His direction, witness to our neighbors, and help these churches with no pastors.
